Exposure Data Recognition (EDR)

Automatic detection of region of interest for optimal image processing and display.

The software automatically adjusts the density and contrast of an X-ray image to obtain the best results even under significantly different exposure conditions. By analyzing the exposure field, , EDR determines the relevant area for diagnosis, and adjusts the density and contrast based on the actual histogram of an image. For example, if a PA view of the skull requires 10 mAs, Fuji EDR will still maintain the desired density and contrast at exposures of 3 mAs and 30mAs (see images below).

Histogram analysis (chest example)

From the actual image, the EDR creates a histogram of the image that shows the size and frequency of the signal of each pixel corresponding to the exposed X-ray amount.

The function recognizes the range of the mediastinum (red) from the high-density area (blue) of the lung field and adjusts the image density.
