Siemens to Sell Fuji's CR Mammography System
Chicago, IL - November 26, 2006 - FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA announced today that it has signed a U.S. distribution agreement with Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Malvern, Pa., for Fuji's Computed Radiography for Mammography (FCRm). In addition to FCRm being sold by Fuji's direct sales force, Siemens will be adding Fuji's FCRm Full Field Digital Mammography (FFDM) system to its product portfolio for both new and existing Siemens' customers, complementing their own MAMMOMAT NovationDR FFDM system.
"As demand for FFDM systems increases, it's important for Fuji to have maximum reach to the more than 8500 certified mammography facilities across the country," said Andrew Vandergrift, National Marketing Manager, Women's Healthcare Imaging. "Siemens has had a successful presence in the mammography market, and this agreement is an example of how we can leverage their breadth of experience so that our products get maximum exposure to decision makers. We're looking forward to a successful, collaborative relationship, and to helping spread the adoption of Fuji's clinically proven FCRm technology so that digital mammography is accessible to more women in the United States."
Fuji was a major participant in the Digital Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (DMIST) that found digital mammograms to be more accurate than film screen mammograms for significant sub-groups of the screening population. Fuji's FFDM system was the second most used, and the only CR-based digital mammography system, in the landmark clinical study of 49,528 women.
"We have years of experience in the Digital Mammography market and this past year we have seen significant demand from the market for the Fuji CR for Mammography approach," said Anders Steiner, Vice President of Special Systems Division for Siemens Medical Solutions USA. "We recognize the quality and versatility of the FCRm system and the strength it brings to our product portfolio. We're pleased to be aligning with Fuji in the women's healthcare market."
